ADASTRA - Research Assistant Position
The Centre for Research in Engineering Surface Technology (CREST) currently has a position available for a Research Assistant (RA) in the area of materials science and engineering. The RA will be part of a team working on externally funded collaborative research projects.
Job Description
The Centre is seeking to appoint a Research Assistant in Materials Science and Engineering on a fixed term (12 months) specific purpose basis. The post holder will be required to carry out research in the area of materials characterisation and mechanical testing of atmospheric pressure plasma surface treatments and adhesively bonded composites joints. This will include designing and running experiments, recording, analysing and writing up the results (as part of a research team). The role will include characterisation of samples using techniques such as DSC, TGA, FTIR, surface profilometry, surface energy, optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, tensile/compression testing as well as fracture testing of adhesive joints and other material characterisation techniques as needed. If several suitable candidates are identified, a panel will be created to fulfil similar RA roles in the future.
