If English is not your first language, you will have to be able to read and write English to a certain level in order to apply to TU Dublin.
Applicants whose first language is not English may be required to provide evidence of English language proficiency. The following English language proficiency tests and results are acceptable for most programmes at undergraduate level. The certificate of your English language standard must have been issued within 2 years of the expected start of your course.
Requirements for postgraduate courses are higher and can be found on individual course pages.
We are now accepting the following tests for January & September 2023 programmes:
IELTS Indicator Test: The minimum score is 6.0 with no less than 6 in each component unless otherwise stated. Please be aware that some programmes require a higher score. Details can be found on individual programme pages.
TOEFL iBT Special Home Edition: The minimum score is 80 unless otherwise stated. Please be aware that some programmes require a higher score. Details can be found on individual programme pages.
Duolingo English Test: The minimum score required is 105 - 115 with a minimum score of 105 in each component unless stated otherwise. Please be aware that some programmes require a higher score. Details can be found on individual programme pages.
LanguageCert ESOL Test: The minimum score is B2 Communicator High Pass with no less than 33 in each skill taken with no more than 3 months between components, unless stated otherwise. Please be aware that some programmes may require a higher score.
In addition, applicants must meet the other TU Dublin specific requirements for the particular programme(s) applied for, (Maths, Science etc.). See individual programmes of study for detailed entry requirements.
