About Us
The Access and Outreach Service is cross-campus and is part of the Recruitment, Admissions and Participation Department. It ensures the widest possible participation in higher education of the local communities we serve and underrepresented groups, with a particular focus on the National Access Plan and the University’s Strategic Intent with regards to widening participation.
Access and Outreach comprises a suite of activities related to breaking down the barriers between higher education and communities which are historically underserved by it and providing opportunities for alternative entry routes. Close cooperation with targeted schools at primary and post primary levels and community groups are a hallmark of this activity, as well as maintaining expert levels of understanding and specific knowledge to be able to assist students from underrepresented backgrounds to access TU Dublin.
TU Dublin Plan for Access & Participation 2024–2028
The TU Dublin Plan for Access & Participation 2024–2028, outlines a strategic commitment to widening participation in higher education, particularly among underrepresented and disadvantaged groups. The plan focuses on building strong community and school partnerships, increasing awareness of educational opportunities, and supporting individuals at every stage of their learning journey—from early engagement to pre-entry and transition supports.
Key priorities include targeted outreach to socio-economically disadvantaged communities, Traveller and Roma communities, students with disabilities, mature learners, and international protection applicants.
The plan also emphasises collaboration with local organisations and education providers.
Through a combination of early interventions, sustained engagement, and tailored supports, the 2024–2028 plan aims to reduce barriers to higher education and promote equity, inclusion, and success for all learners.
