Access and Outreach were delighted to support the Irish premiere of VISIONARIES, an opera in three acts that celebrated the achievements, boldness and resilience of visionary European women. Five international partners from Italy, Ireland and Hungary, representing higher education and cultural institutions, came together with a shared commitment to innovation in adult education through music, theatre and digital technology.

Staff and students from TU Dublin, the Bellini Conservatoire in Italy and Eszterházy University in Hungary created the three separate acts of VISIONARIES and it was performed with an orchestra, chamber choir, and principal singers in the TU Dublin Concert Hall on Friday 30th October. Kevin Hora from the School of Media was part of the creative team and created Act 2, with David Bremner composing the music.

The BRAVO project aims to revolutionise the cultural and educational landscape through innovative opera productions and cross-cultural collaboration. Access and Outreach supported the project’s objective of promoting cultural inclusivity and fostering a diverse and accessible cultural environment by inviting local community groups to attend the opera.

This new opera was part of the BRAVO Erasmus+ project: Celebrating the Brave and Resilient Achievements of Visionary European Women through Opera. It is co-funded by the European Union.
