Light, Lenses and Mirrors
Delivery of and interactive 6th class primary school workshop on light, lenses and mirrors.
The 6th class pupils from Stanhope Street Primary School, Christ the King Boys’ NS, and George's Hill Primary School recently took part in our new Lights, Lenses and Mirrors workshop.
During the workshop, the students experimented with lenses and mirrors, discovered how telescopes work, and made their own periscopes. They also had the opportunity to experience a full-size Camera Obscura, stepping inside to see the iconic Grangegorman Clocktower projected upside down onto a wall.
Covering topics usually explored in secondary school and even at third-level education, the workshop gave the children a unique insight into the science of electromagnetic waves, coherers, remote controls, infrared cameras, and pinhole cameras. They also enjoyed taking part in a laser and mirror challenge, applying what they had learned through hands-on experimentation.
