With approximately 140 young people in attendance, the event recognised schools that have demonstrated an outstanding commitment to welcome, inclusion and belonging for all students — particularly those from refugee, migrant and Traveller communities.

At TU Dublin, widening participation is central to our mission. We are proud to support the highest number of access students in the country, with strong representation of learners from socio-economically disadvantaged backgrounds, students with disabilities, members of the Traveller community, and students from migrant and refugee backgrounds. Our Access & Outreach initiatives continue to work in close partnership with schools and communities to break down barriers to higher education.

Congratulations to the eight new Champion Schools of Sanctuary. Welcoming students and teachers from across Ireland to the East Quad was a powerful reminder of the role education plays in shaping a more inclusive and equitable society. It was an honour to see these eight schools recognised by Schools of Sanctuary Ireland for their commitment to creating environments rooted in welcome, belonging and respect.

These schools led by example — showing what is possible when education is rooted in empathy, equality and respect.
