Sarah Maher School of Chemical and BioPharmaceutical Sciences This project involves the exploration and analysis of the use of educational technology tools to engage students in meaningful, thought-provoking, authentic learning activities.

There is an understanding and appreciation that the transition to third level education can be challenging in various ways for incoming students. New ways of teaching, self-directed learning, deadlines, various modes of assessments and external responsibilities can all potentially influence and impact how students engage with the material during the semester. The intention with the implementation of edtech and digital learning tools during the degree is to support the student in their learning by offering alternative ways to engage with the material.

This project focusses on the DNA & Forensic Analysis degree programme and the development of a 360-degree virtual tour of the mock crime scene (virtual crime scene). The mock crime scenes are set-up in the Scenes of Crime Facility on Tallaght campus and are currently accessible in-person only. This pilot virtual crime scene is accessible through Brightspace for use in stand-alone activities and/or as preparation for the in-person experience. Plenty to explore!

Articulate and a 360 camera were used to create this experience.
