On Monday 12 & Tuesday 13 October 2026, we will celebrate World Sight Day @ TU Dublin.   

The event will take place at Central Quad on our Grangegorman campus at Technological University Dublin   

Hosted by the Digital Futures Research Hub and the School of Computer Science at TU Dublin, and organised in collaboration with Sight and Sound Technologies, the programme will bring together students, researchers, educators and industry partners to explore the latest developments in assistive technology research and innovation.  

  

October 12th  

11:00- 17:00 Assistive Technology Exhibition in the foyer of Central Quad

On Monday 12th and Tuesday 13th October the foyer of Central Quad will be busy with the assistive technology exhibition where Sight and Sound Technology will demo a range of hardware and software that can help people with low or no vision.  

In addition to Sight and Sound’s technology, there will also be displays and demos by:  

  • ChildVision  
  • Fighting Blindness  
  • Irish Guide Dogs for the blind  
  • Vision Ireland, the new name for NCBI  
  • Vision Sports 
  • Digicoach.ie 
  • Anne Sullivan Centre For People Who Are Deafblind

10.30 – 11.30 Connect, collaborate and create impact (a small focused event for invited participants).  

For TU Dublin staff and community organisations interested in exploring potential collaboration on research topics. Participants will engage with each other to start building relationships and discover potential shared interests and opportunities. 17:15- 18-00  Fireside CHAT: From Innovation to Impact: Can Ireland Lead the Next Generation of Assistive Technology? 

A relaxed 30–40 minute fireside conversation between Dr Dympna O'Sullivan, Vice President of Research and Innovation, TU Dublin, and Stuart Lawler, Sight and Sound Technology Ireland, followed by questions and discussion with the CHAT community.
