Step into a gallery of musical storytelling as David Brophy and TU Dublin Philharmonic opens its new season with a vibrant programme of orchestral colour, rhythm and imagination.

Experience Gershwin’s lush symphonic portrait of Porgy and Bess with jazz‑infused elegance. Saxophonist Anthony Vala, winner of the TU Dublin Conservatoire Soloist Competition, takes centre stage for Paul Creston’s exhilarating Concerto for Saxophone and Orchestra — a work of rhythmic energy, lyricism and virtuosity that showcases the remarkable expressive range of the saxophone. The evening culminates in Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition, heard in Maurice Ravel’s spectacular orchestration. From the mysterious depths of The Old Castle to the blazing grandeur of The Great Gate of Kyiv, Ravel transforms Mussorgsky’s musical gallery into one of the most vivid and colourful showpieces in the orchestral repertoire.
