Michael O’Hara is an artist, writer and part-time lecturer in Sculpture at the Dublin Institute of Technology (DIT). He is currently a PhD candidate at GradCAM in DIT. He also chairs the Aesthetics Research Group and is an Associate Researcher with the Digital Studies Group at GradCAM. He holds a Masters in Fine Art from NCAD and a Masters in Philosophy from UCD.

He has spent the last 15 years working as a technician, manager and educator across a variety of arts organisations and businesses including Bronze Art Ltd, Firestation Artists’ Studios and Leitrim Sculpture Centre.

His research is concerned with the relationships between the phenomenal body, digital objects and art making to critically determine the affordance and role of memory, time and intentionality to such relations. Specifically he is interested in how new digital technologies mediate object relations and production and the resulting effects on political and social discourses. He has published and exhibited nationally and internationally.
