Creating the News of the Future with Mark Porter and Francesco Franchi
The visual dimension of media literacy, news and current affairs is often overlooked: this event seeks to foreground and stimulate debate on the role of the visual in news design.
By bringing together key practitioners, Typography Ireland hope to discuss the challenges, alongside developments, in this area. As well as those from the local community in Ireland, speakers include two of the most prominent figures in international newspaper and magazine design of the last 30 years: Mark Porter (Guardian, New Statesman, Wired, Irish Independent) and Francesco Franchi (Domus, IL, La Repubblica, Designing News). Local participants include Scott Burnett from Wove, James Kelleher of Publicis Dublin, Stephanie Costello of the Dublin Inquirer and Triona Kirby (Lecturer, news and journalism, IADT).
