Year 3 Creative Digital Media students of the Photography & The Environment module have been shortlisted for the AIB Student Impact Awards, Biodiversity & Nature Stewardship Project of the Year. The students, along with their lecturer Sinéad Curran, have embarked on a community-engaged research project, partnered with Global Action Plan, who run the Glas Community Garden located on the TU Dublin Blanchardstown campus, Two students from the class will represent the group at a ceremony in Croke Park next Tuesday, April 28th.
The Glas garden acts as the site of response for this project, which explores practices of growing, plant and insect biodiversity, soil and water health, and broader nonhuman ecologies, through the lens of a “darkroom garden”, utilising cameraless photographic processes. Thanks to lecturer Rachel Freeman for supporting us with access to the Horticultural space during this project.
