School lecturer and Editor of The Journal of Peer Learning, Nevan Bermingham, delivered a presentation at the “2026 International Forum for Peer Learning and Support” at Queen Margaret University last week.

The presentation explored the critical value of academic research to successfully transform an institutional narrative on student supports into publishable academic material. Building directly on this keynote theme, Nevan also facilitated two free-to-attend interactive research planning workshops specifically designed to help higher education practitioners and those looking to develop their individual research paths all the way from initial concept to a final research plan.

These interactive sessions provided help to build a critical path roadmap to demystify complex qualitative methodologies and create awareness of potential journal rejection pitfalls. Both workshops achieved good overall engagement, drawing over 65 participants from 23 universities across Europe, Canada, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

The workshops will be rolled out again for student support practitioners at European Universities in conjunction with the European Centre for Supplemental Instruction at Lund University sometime in 2027.
