MSc Event Management Students Get Behind the Scenes at Two of Dublin's Premier Venues

Students from our MSc Event Management programme recently enjoyed an inspiring industry visit to two of Dublin's most prestigious event destinations, the InterContinental Hotel at Ballsbridge and the Royal Dublin Society (RDS).
The day began at the landmark InterContinental Hotel, where students were welcomed by James O'Connor, Senior Meetings and Events Manager. James gave the group a fascinating insight into the operational demands of running events at one of Ireland's leading five-star hotels, from intimate corporate gatherings to large-scale conferences. His expertise and passion for the industry made for an engaging and informative session, giving students a real-world perspective on the standards and professionalism required at the highest level of hospitality.
From there, the group made their way to the neighbouring RDS, one of Ireland's most iconic and versatile event venues. Here, students were treated to a special guided tour by Megan Daly, Business Development Manager and a graduate of our BSc Event Management programme. It was a wonderful full-circle moment for current students to see one of their own thriving in such a prestigious role.
Megan showcased the remarkable breadth of event spaces the RDS has to offer, taking the group on a journey through the venue's rich history and its exciting modern developments. From the grandeur of its historic halls, steeped in heritage and character, to the impressive new arena facility, students witnessed first-hand just how diverse and adaptable the venue can be. Megan's knowledge and enthusiasm were evident throughout, and she offered invaluable advice drawn from her own experience navigating the events industry since graduating.
Industry visits like these are an integral part of the MSc Event Management experience, and we are always enormously grateful to the professionals who give so generously of their time and go to such effort to welcome us into their venues.
