Lecturing in Hygrothermal Risk Assessment

Email: benat.arregi@tudublin.ie

Benat Arregi is an industry-based architect, researcher and hygrothermal risk assessor based in Bilbao. He lectures part time on the online TU414 MSc Building Performance (Energy Efficiency in Design) programme.

His expertise lies in the design, modelling, experimentation and optimisation of building envelopes, with a focus on thermal and hygric performance. He holds a degree in Architecture from the University of the Basque Country (2007). From 2009 to 2016 he was a core member of Building Life Consultancy in Dublin, where he specialised in thermal bridge modelling and hygrothermal numerical simulation. Together with Joseph Little, he created and delivered courses on energy-efficient retrofit and building fabric design for the RIAI (2010-2015), and has also delivered consultancy and training in building envelope design, thermal modelling and hygrothermal evaluation to building professionals, product developers and public bodies.

Since 2016 he works as a researcher at Tecnalia, where he is primarily involved in the development of energy-efficient systems and products for buildings. His current research interests include the combination of dynamic models and data analysis for characterising the ABIS (as built and in service) performance of building envelopes.
