Dr. Brian Ward is a lecturer on the TU832 Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch) and the TU282/TU410 Master of Architecture (M.Arch) programmes.  He lectures in history, theory & criticism; architectural design studio; and research methods. He also supervises at Masters and M.Phil level.
 
Having practiced as an architect for a number of years with dePaor Architects and Dominic Stevens Architects, he completed a PhD in University College Dublin. He has contributed to many publications on modern and contemporary Irish architecture and town planning. In 2022 he co-curated (with Gary Boyd) an exhibition, The Architecture of Creative Learning, in the Irish national pavilion in the Expo in Dubai; in 2020 he co-published (with Gary Boyd and Michael Pike) Out of the Ordinary: Irish Housing Design 1955-1980 (Routledge); and in 2019 he co-curated (with Sarah Sheridan) an exhibition, Marion Mahony Griffin: Discuss for the Irish Architecture Foundation (IAF). He has edited building material - the journal of the Architectural Association of Ireland; the IAF; and the All-Ireland Architecture Research Group (AIARG) - and from 2016-2020 he was the chair of AIARG.
