The fourth edition of the very successful book ‘Highway Engineering’ has just been published by Wiley-Blackwell.

The authors, Dr Martin Rogers and Dr Bernard Enright, are on the academic staff in the School of Transport and Civil Engineering at TU Dublin.

The book was originally written by Martin Rogers and first published in 2003 and has regularly been updated by the authors to reflect the latest standards and practices in highway engineering. The book is intended primarily as a textbook for undergraduate civil engineers, but is also of interest to practitioners. Topics covered include:

  • Transport planning
  • Traffic Analysis and forecasting
  • Scheme appraisal and highway capacity analysis
  • Geometric alignment of highways and design of intersections
  • Pavement design, construction and maintenance
  • Sustainable transport

The book draws on international best practice, and is based on highway engineering design standards originating in both the UK and the US that are used in many parts of the world.
