Education

Professor Patrick Goodman, BSc, MSc, PhD FInstP (Meteorologist) is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Physics, Clinical Measurement and Optometric Sciences at TU Dublin.

Pat Graduated with an Honours BSC in Experimental Physics in UCD in 1984.  He then completed a Research Masters in UCD in Atmospheric Physics, graduating in 1986.

He trained and qualified as a Meteorologist with Met Eireann, working there until 1989.

In 1989 he joined DIT (Now TU Dublin ) as a lecturer.  He completed a PhD in the area of air pollution and Health from Trinity in 2000. 

Pat Goodman was awarded a Fellowship of the Institute of Physics in 2003 , and a Professorship by DIT in 2009.

 

Research

Prof. Goodman has been the author of over 100 peer reviewed articles, reports and books.  He is a Principal investigator in the Air Quality group, and the Clinical Measurement Groups in TU Dublin. (Citations >6000)

Prof. Goodman has acted as an invited expert with the EU, WHO (Europe) and the USEPA.  He has been a visiting researcher at the Harvard School of Public Health.  He has been a collaborator and work package leader on many EU funded projects.  He has also won national and international awards for his research.

He has played an integral part in the successful infrastructural grants for ESHI, FOCAS and MARL at TUDublin.

Prof. Goodman has also supervised over 40 research students to completion (MPhil and PhD).

Educational Programmes

Prof. Goodman is the chairperson of the BSc in Clinical Measurement Sciences

He has overseen the evolution and development of Clinical Measurement Science in Ireland for over 30 years.
