More than 100 students, teachers, mentors and guests gathered at TU Dublin’s East Quad, Grangegorman, on 19 October to celebrate the achievements of Transition Year students who successfully completed the STEM Passport for Inclusion programme.

Held in the Concert Hall, the graduation ceremony recognised the students’ commitment, enthusiasm and hard work throughout the programme, which aims to inspire young people from underrepresented backgrounds to explore future opportunities in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM).

Through a combination of industry mentoring, interactive workshops and skills-development activities, the programme gives students the opportunity to discover the possibilities of STEM education and careers. It also helps them build confidence, develop new skills and see how they could pursue a future in these fields.

A highlight of the ceremony was the presentation of certificates to the graduating students, recognising their successful completion of the programme. The event provided an opportunity to celebrate not only their individual achievements but also the positive impact of inclusive STEM education in encouraging ambition, curiosity and a sense of belonging.

The STEM Passport for Inclusion is a national programme led by Maynooth University and delivered at TU Dublin through a collaborative partnership between TU Dublin’s Access and Outreach team and the School of Physics, Clinical and Optometric Sciences.

Funded by Taighde Éireann – Research Ireland, the Department of Education and Youth, and industry partners, the programme reflects TU Dublin’s commitment to widening participation and ensuring that young people from all backgrounds can access meaningful educational opportunities and pathways into STEM.

The success of this year’s programme was made possible through the support and collaboration of participating schools, industry mentors, student volunteers, guest speakers and TU Dublin colleagues, whose contributions helped create an engaging and rewarding experience for all involved.

As this year’s graduates take their next steps in education, TU Dublin looks forward to building on these partnerships and continuing to inspire the next generation of STEM talent through inclusive, accessible and impactful learning opportunities.
