Kaleidoscope Goes Online - End Of Year Show for Creative Digital Media at TU Dublin – Blanchardstown
The Creative Digital Media degree at the Blanchardstown Campus of TU Dublin produces graduates well versed in all aspects of contemporary media technology. Our students finish their degrees by producing final year projects which typically encompass areas such as web design, mobile app development, User Experience (UX) design, game development, film and documentary production, and emerging media technologies such as Augmented and Virtual Reality. Normally our graduating class exhibit their work at the Kaleidoscope showcase event which takes place on our Blanchardstown campus at the end of May.
This year is different. Due to the global pandemic restricting access to physical facilities, our students and staff have had to respond creatively to the following challenge: how do you put on a show when you can’t access a space? The response to this has been to design and create a showcase event that does not rely on physical facilities of any kind.
For the graduating class of 2020, the Kaleidoscope Showcase event for Creative Digital Media will take place entirely online and will be live-streamed using the Twitch.tv platform. Opening on Thursday 28th May at 5:30pm, visitors are invited to point their phones, tablets or laptops at twitch.tv/creativedigitalmedia where an opening event will be hosted by the staff and students. Following this, the work of the students will be live-streamed in rotation from the same address over the next two days.
This opening event will also feature announcements of awards sponsored by our partners at The Digital Hub and the Dept agency. The Digital Hub award was established in 2018 with the winning student being offered an exhibition of their work at the Digital Hub. The Dept Innovation Award, established in 2019, highlights innovative use of design or technology and the successful student is offered mentoring and support at Dept.
Please join us at 5:30pm on Thursday 28th of May to help us celebrate the work of our students and view some of their outstanding work. Visitors are advised that they will have to bring their own refreshments.
