TU Dublin Career Development Centre was Highly Commended at AHECS Award 2021

The Career Development Centre at TU Dublin was Highly Commended by the Association of Higher Education Careers Service (AHECS) Awards for their student event 'Love Your Career'.

Love your career was nominated under the category of 'Building Effective Partnerships.'

The AHECS Awards are an annual competition, which is run in conjunction with our publishing partners gradireland. These awards promote, encourage, and acknowledge the hard work and dedication of career professionals working across the island of Ireland. A panel of judges adjudicates the awards made up of both careers professionals and employment market experts.

Love your career was a week-long series of events designed to help students at any stage in their career. Topics included writing a winning CV, approaching employers, researching dream jobs or applying for further study. The event took place in February, with 1800 students attending an event and almost 5,000 students engaging with online Love Your Career materials. The judging panel was particularly impressed by the student testimonials.

“I thought the week was brilliant. It was definitely helpful and I know it would have been particularly useful when I was doing my undergraduate back in 2018, as you can often feel overwhelmed with options and what is available to you.
I thought the sessions were really well laid out in terms of the variety of topics, and the timing of each session was perfect - not too long, but not too short. It was very handy the way the week was structured so you still had an opportunity to see everything if your college schedule pulled you away from an event you wanted to attend. The virtual aspect was brilliant too as it was very convenient. I surprised myself at how much I learned from the question section after each session. There were definitely a few questions that I needed to know the answer to, that I didn’t even know I needed the answer to. I thought the week gave a really good overview of professional essentials and I learned a lot from the week.” Ellie, MSc. Culinary Innovation and Food Product Development

“I found the seminars this week really useful and picked up a lot of really relevant tips for job hunting, interviews, and CVs! The staff were super helpful and brilliant at providing lots of resources.” Lisa, Creative Industries and Visual Culture
