TU Dublin and An-Najah National University Partner to Advance the UN Sustainable Development Goals

In a landmark commitment to global education and sustainability, Technological University Dublin (TU Dublin) and An-Najah National University have formalised a strategic partnership through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This pioneering collaboration, which aims to further the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), was celebrated during today's virtual launch event.

The ceremony brought together distinguished academic leaders and stakeholders from both universities. Dr Deirdre Lillis, President of TU Dublin, and Prof. Abdel Naser Zaid, President of An-Najah National University, presided over the signing. The event was further honoured by the attendance of Ambassador Dr Jilan Wahba Abdalmajid, Palestinian Ambassador to Ireland, whose participation underscored the significance of diplomatic support in fostering international academic collaboration.

Both university leaders articulated their shared vision for advancing the UN SDGs through collaborative teaching, innovative research, and comprehensive capacity-building initiatives.  Dr. Deirdre Lillis, President of TU Dublin said,

The partnership is already delivering outcomes through several key initiatives, including joint lectures. Recent sessions explored the role of AI in academia, emphasising its transformative impact and the sustainability challenges it presents. Collaborative research on Sustainable Innovation Ecosystems is also bringing together experts from both universities to develop innovative, forward-thinking solutions. Additionally, targeted capacity-building programmes are equipping faculty in both institutions with the skills and knowledge needed to advance the UN Sustainable Development Goals, further strengthening the partnership's commitment to global sustainability and academic excellence.

This MoU signing not only marks the beginning of a dynamic collaboration but also reinforces our shared commitment to actively advancing the UN Sustainable Development Goals while developing graduates who are sustainability-focused global citizens.
