Young music students enjoy workshops with National Concert Hall & National Symphony Orchestra Ireland
The young musicians of the TU Dublin Ballymun Music Programme were thrilled to have the chance to participate in workshops with the National Symphony Orchestra Ireland brass and wind ensembles, led by National Concert Hall Discover Artist-in-Residence Jessie Grimes, recently.
This series of visits on 12th and 13th November involved approximately 130 children from four primary schools in Ballymun as part of the TU Dublin Ballymun Music Programme, an initiative led by TU Dublin Conservatoire, supported by Dublin City Council. The inspiring workshops were presented in partnership with the National Concert Hall.
The TU Dublin Ballymun Music Programme, supported by Dublin City Council, provides long-term free access to high-quality music education in an area of acute social and economic disadvantage, bringing the opportunities and benefits of music to approximately 300 children and young people each week.
The NCH Discover Programme is the National Concert Hall’s flagship learning and participation initiative, offering a wide range of workshops, concerts, and community projects that foster a love of music for people of all ages and backgrounds, spanning schools, families, musicians, and health and wellbeing settings, with a new NCH Discover Centre planned to further expand these creative and educational opportunities.
