The School of Media recently welcomed Her Excellency Celine Place, French Ambassador to Ireland, and Ms Margot Slattery, President of the Alliance Française, to the East Quad to launch the exhibition, Sport Friendly: The Playing Field of Diversity! – Ireland Edition.

The exhibition is a welcome collaboration between the BA (Hons) Photography programme in the School of Media at TU Dublin and the Alliance Française. Following an open call, third-year student Marko Rudi was selected to photograph members of five inclusive sports clubs. Club members were also interviewed by BA (Hons) Journalism students, Grace Cosgrave, Mathew Dooley and Peace Okolo from the Master's in Journalism programme.

Sport Friendly is an international collaborative project led by the artist Emilien Buffard.

Already presented in 19 countries and seen by more than one million people, the Sport Friendly project aims to create a national photographic archive of inclusive sport by documenting teams actively working towards inclusion across the country. In the Irish edition, Sport Friendly: The Field of Diversity!  shines a light on five inclusive Irish sports clubs whose impact goes far beyond the game itself and contributes to the fight against LGBTphobia.

The exhibition is part of TU Dublin’s commitment to the spirit of Pride. The project is closely linked to the vision of the School of Media and the wider Faculty of Arts and Humanities: to give voice to matters that impact society, and to embed principles of sustainability, equality, diversity, and inclusion into every aspect of the creative learning experience.
