The annual South Dublin County Council (SDCC) Bursary Awards Ceremony took place on Tuesday, 14 October 2025, at Work IQ, Innovation Quarter, Tallaght.

This special event, delivered in partnership between South Dublin County Council, the Access Support Service, and the Access & Outreach Team at TU Dublin, celebrated the achievements of eight first year Access students and five second year students each awarded the €2,500 South Dublin County Council Bursary.

Mairéad Murphy, Head of Recruitment, Admissions & Participation at TU Dublin, welcomed students and spoke about the importance of the University’s Access Entry Routes and the need to support students from our partner schools not just to access university but to participate and reach their full potential.

We were also delighted to welcome the Mayor of South Dublin, Cllr. Pamela Kearns presented the certificates to students. She was joined by Gráinne Burke, Senior Manager for Student Support and Wellbeing and representatives from South Dublin County Council in celebrating the students’ achievements.

Since 2006, South Dublin County Council has generously funded TU Dublin students from partner schools in the region. Each scholarship provides €2,500 in the first year of study, with an additional €2,500 awarded upon successful progression to the second year. This funding helps ease the financial pressures of college life, enabling students to focus on their academic and personal growth.

Access student leader and 2024–2025 awardee, Jay Kumar, also spoke at the ceremony, sharing how the bursary has made a meaningful difference to his studies, easing financial pressures, allowing him to focus more fully on his coursework and motivating him to continue striving for academic excellence.
