Congratulations to Than Bui and Elena Parlapan, second-year Accounting students on TU Dublin’s Tallaght campus, who recently represented the University at the Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) Irish Finals 2026 in the Excel category.

Qualifying for the national finals is a significant achievement, as both students demonstrated exceptional Excel skills in reaching the final stage of the competition.

A special congratulations goes to Than Bui, who achieved an outstanding 2nd place nationally in the Excel category. This remarkable accomplishment highlights both the student’s dedication and the high standard of digital competency development within the Accounting discipline at TU Dublin.

The Microsoft Office Specialist championships are internationally recognised competitions that assess advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. The competitions provide students with an opportunity to demonstrate industry-recognised digital skills that are increasingly valuable in modern workplaces.

As part of their studies within the Accounting programme on the University’s Tallaght campus, students engage extensively with Microsoft Excel and digital technologies, developing practical skills aligned with current industry expectations. Their success at national level reflects the strong emphasis placed on applied digital learning and professional certification within the programme.

Alison Mulhare, lecturer in IT and Digital Technologies in the  School of Accounting, Economics & Finance on TU Dublin’s Tallaght campus, congratulated both students on their achievements:

Reaching the MOS Irish Finals is an incredible achievement, and to see one of our students place second nationally is something we are extremely proud of. Both students showed outstanding commitment and professionalism throughout the year, and their success reflects the high level of digital and analytical skills being developed within the programme.

The TU Dublin Accounting programme continues to integrate industry-recognised digital certifications and practical technology skills into the student learning experience, helping prepare graduates for an increasingly digital business environment.
