TU Dublin has announced a landmark strategic partnership with Shamrock Rovers that will see the University's Tallaght Campus become the new training and performance base for the club's Women's First Team, U23 and U17 National League squads.

The partnership strengthens TU Dublin's commitment to supporting high-performance sport, while creating new opportunities for student engagement, research collaboration, educational pathways and community outreach.

Building on an existing relationship between the University and Shamrock Rovers, the collaboration provides players with access to TU Dublin's outdoor pitches, high-performance gym, sports hub, changing facilities and video analysis facilities. The Tallaght Campus has also recently hosted Women's National League and Women's Cup fixtures, further establishing the University as a centre for elite women's football.

The partnership also reflects TU Dublin's strong commitment to the local community. This August, the University will host an all-girls football camp with Shamrock Rovers, encouraging more young women and girls to participate in the sport.

Speaking about the partnership, Sally Anne Sherry, Chief Operations Officer at TU Dublin, said:

TU Dublin is delighted to partner with Shamrock Rovers and support the continued growth of women's football through a shared commitment to excellence, opportunity and community engagement.

This partnership brings together one of Ireland's leading football clubs and one of Ireland's leading universities to create an environment where athletes can thrive both on and off the pitch. Through access to high-quality facilities, educational opportunities and community programmes, we hope to support the development of current and future generations of female athletes.

As a university with deep roots in Tallaght and South Dublin, we are particularly excited about the positive impact this partnership can have locally, creating stronger connections between education, sport and the wider community while inspiring more young women and girls to engage in football and pursue their ambitions.

Robbie Hedderman, Chief Executive Officer of Shamrock Rovers, said:

This partnership with TU Dublin's Tallaght Campus represents a significant step forward in our commitment to advancing women's football. Together, we are creating a pathway where talented players can thrive, combining the benefits of elite football with educational opportunities that support their long-term development.

"This partnership is about more than what exists today – it is about building for the future and creating a sustainable model that helps drive the continued growth of women's football both on and off the pitch.

The partnership reflects a shared ambition to advance women's football in Ireland while strengthening links between higher education, elite sport and the wider South Dublin community.
