TU Dublin hosts biggest-ever Dublin City Council SportsFest as event celebrates 10 years
TU Dublin welcomed the Lord Mayor of Dublin, Daryl Barron, and hundreds of participants for Dublin City Council SportsFest 2026, as the annual celebration marked its 10th anniversary.
The biggest-ever Dublin City Council SportsFest took place at our Grangegorman Campus on Saturday, 26 September, bringing together the local community for an afternoon of sport, physical activity and family entertainment.
Lord Mayor Daryl Barron was welcomed to the campus by Dr Brian Murphy, Government and Community Advocacy Lead and Christy O’Shea, Senior Manager Sport, Societies & Student Life, as he joined participants and visitors for the 10th anniversary celebrations.
Organised by Dublin City Council, SportsFest has grown over the past decade into a major community event promoting participation in sport, physical activity and wellbeing across Dublin city.
The 2026 programme offered visitors the opportunity to try a wide range of sports and activities, with something for people of all ages and abilities. Activities included NFL football, basketball, GAA, soccer, rugby and athletics, alongside rock climbing, boxing, parkour, ultimate frisbee and tug-of-war.
The event highlighted the important role of sport and physical activity in supporting community connection and wellbeing, while bringing people together on the TU Dublin campus.
TU Dublin would like to acknowledge and thank all staff who helped facilitate the event and those who attended on the day, whose support contributed to the success of SportsFest 2026.
