TU Dublin Launches Inaugural Alumni Awards to Celebrate 140 Years of Graduate Achievement
Nominations are now open for the inaugural TU Dublin Alumni Awards 2027, celebrating the achievements and contributions of graduates in Ireland and around the world.
TU Dublin's story is one of almost 140 years of education, innovation and impact. The University's origins can be traced to the City of Dublin Technical Schools, with a Technical College founded at Kevin Street in 1887 by poet, songwriter and novelist Arnold Felix Graves. From these beginnings, TU Dublin has grown into Ireland's first technological university, with a proud tradition of combining academic excellence with practical, career-focused education and locations across Dublin at Aungier Street, Blanchardstown, Bolton Street, Grangegorman and Tallaght. Across generations, its graduates have made their mark in business, technology, science, the arts, culture, sport and community life, shaping Ireland and making a difference internationally.
Building on this rich heritage, the University is launching the inaugural TU Dublin Alumni Awards 2027, providing an opportunity to recognise the people and stories that make its alumni community so special.
With more than 7,000 students graduating annually, TU Dublin's alumni community continues to grow. Today, it is a truly global network, with more than 175,000 graduates living and working in 126 countries, spanning a wide range of professions, industries and communities.
Speaking about the launch, TU Dublin President, Dr Deirdre Lillis, said:
"Our graduates are among TU Dublin's greatest ambassadors, making an impact across industries, professions and communities in Ireland and around the world. Their success reflects the distinctive learning experience we offer at TU Dublin, where academic knowledge is brought to life through practical application, industry collaboration and real-world experience.
Through our close partnerships with employers and industry, students gain valuable insights into professional challenges, emerging technologies and the changing world of work. This approach equips them with the knowledge, confidence and capabilities to make a meaningful contribution to their chosen careers.
The inaugural Alumni Awards give us an opportunity to celebrate this success, recognise the diverse journeys our graduates have taken, and shine a light on the many ways they are shaping their professions and making a positive difference in society.”
