TU Dublin Societies Shine at National Societies Awards 2025
Student-led societies earn national recognition, highlighting the value of learning beyond the classroom!
TU Dublin celebrated a night of triumph at the 2025 National Societies Awards, held on Thursday, 10 April in the Clayton Hotel in Sligo. Organised by the Board of Irish College Societies (BICS), the prestigious event brought together outstanding student societies from across Ireland, and TU Dublin proudly emerged as one of the big winners of the night, taking home six national awards.
From creative excellence to impactful community engagement, our societies continue to prove that the TU Dublin student experience extends far beyond academic achievement. Each award reflects the incredible passion, innovation, and dedication of our student leaders who shape campus life through events, initiatives, and shared experiences.
Our 2025 BICS Award Winners
Best Photograph – Dance Society
Captured during the Dance Intervarsity in March, this powerful photograph stood out for its energy and expression. A celebration of creativity and movement, the image embodied the spirit of performance and the dedication behind it.
Best Mental Health Event – Enactus Society
Enactus made an inspiring impact with Football for Grief, a charity 5-a-side tournament that used sport as a medium for healing. Free to enter and fully funded through fundraising and grants, the event supported those dealing with loss, removing financial barriers to participation. Congratulations to Ethan Levins and Giada Franzolini who accepted the award on behalf of the society.
Green Initiative Award – SVP Society
The Re-Fridge Project is a shining example of student-led social responsibility. Since October 2024, SVP Society has worked to combat food insecurity and food waste by establishing a community fridge stocked with surplus donations via FoodCloud. Promoting sustainability and community solidarity, this initiative continues to grow each week.
Most Improved Society – Neurodivergent Society
A heartfelt achievement for the Neurodivergent Society, whose focus on inclusion and support has created a vital space for neurodivergent students on our Tallaght campus. From sensory-friendly sessions to regular social meetups, the society has made incredible strides since September.
Best Event (Small Campus) – Nerd Society
The imaginative Fortress 2² event combined gaming culture with eco-conscious creativity. Inspired by Team Fortress 2, students crafted costumes from recycled cardboard, proving that fun and sustainability can go hand-in-hand. Now in its second year, this event is becoming a beloved tradition!
Best Event (Large Campus) – Dance Society
Rounding off the night with a second win, Dance Society’s hosting of Dance Intervarsity 2025 was a major highlight. With over 600 dancers, 750+ spectators, and 47 performances, the event was a triumph of coordination, talent, and team spirit. The society also brought home 1st place in both the HipHop and Mixed Piece categories, along with Best Choreography in Hip Hop.
Celebrating Student-Led Success
The National Societies Awards are not just about trophies – they’re about recognising how student societies enrich university life. They give students a platform to lead, to collaborate, and to make a difference.
A huge congratulations to all the societies who represented TU Dublin so brilliantly at BICS – and to all students and staff who make these incredible experiences possible.
