TU Dublin is proud to celebrate Carrie McDaid, a recent graduate of the BA in Film and Broadcasting at TU Dublin’s School of Media, who has already made her mark on the international stage.

Carrie’s short film TV Night!, written and directed as part of her final-year studies, was awarded Best Student Film in the July edition of the New York City International Film Festival Awards.

The success of TV Night! was a true team effort. Assistant Director Tegan Denniston and Producer Saoirse Burton (pictured above) played major roles in bringing the film to life, alongside fellow producer Ian Makarchyk.

At TU Dublin, learning goes far beyond the classroom. Our programmes combine academic knowledge with real-world experience, ensuring that students can apply their skills directly in industry settings. This approach produces graduates who are not only academically accomplished but also equipped with the practical expertise employers value.

Carrie’s achievement is a testament to this practice-based learning model, fostering creativity, technical excellence, and industry readiness in every graduate.

Congratulations, Carrie, and to the entire TV Night! Team.
