TU Dublin Triumphs at Record-Breaking WorldSkills Ireland 2026
WorldSkills Ireland 2026 took place from September 17th to 19th at the RDS Simmonscourt, Dublin, bringing together Ireland’s brightest young talents for three days of competition, innovation, and inspiration. The event, jointly managed by TU Dublin and MTU on behalf of the Department of Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science, welcomed a record-breaking 33,000 visitors, including an unprecedented 29,660 students eager to explore future career opportunities.
This year’s event featured 33 national competitions and three exciting new demonstration competitions, alongside a wide range of “Try a Skill” activities and recruitment and educational stands showcasing the full tertiary education sector.
TU Dublin played a leading role, with 12 Chief Examiners and 17 Co-Examiners contributing their expertise across all skill areas. Their commitment and guidance helped competitors reach new heights, culminating in an outstanding achievement for TU Dublin competitors, who took home 11 first-place titles, with winners receiving the prestigious DFHERIS Medal for Excellence.
Speaking about the event, Ray English, Chair, WorldSkills Ireland and Board Member for Strategic Development at WorldSkills International, highlighted the pride the University has in its apprentices and students:

WorldSkills Ireland 2026 was a celebration of education, industry, and ambition, demonstrating the depth of skill and talent across Ireland. With TU Dublin at the forefront, the future of skills development has never looked brighter.
