GDPR Training

The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) came into force in 2018, replacing the existing data protection framework under the EU Data Protection Directive.  In order to ensure that all staff are aware of their obligations under the regulations the following on-line training must be undertaken.

GDPR training is mandatory under the TU Dublin Data Protection Policy.  TU Dublin is committed to the provision of Data Protection Training on a mandatory basis to ensure all individuals are aware of their respective responsibilities and obligations.

The TU Dublin Data Protection Policy is available here - Data Protection Policy

Under the TU Dublin Data Protection Policy all staff are expected to:

  • Read and acquaint themselves with, and abide by, the rules of Data Protection set out in this Policy
  • Understand what is meant by 'personal data' and 'sensitive personal data' and know how to handle such data
  • Not jeopardise individuals' rights or risk a contravention of the Act
  • Contact their Head of School/Function or Information Governance Officer if in any doubt

You can access GDPR training through the Training Library of the online platform.  Simply login to the platform, go to the training library, and click on General Data Protection Regulation.
