Ebook Central Reader App: A new app for downloading and viewing eBooks from ProQuest
From the 13th of August, TU Dublin Library will be switching to the new ProQuest Ebook Central reader app.
- The app will replace Adobe Digital Editions as the way of reading downloaded (borrowed) eBooks from ProQuest eBook Central.
- Patrons will need to register devices (up to six per user). This will require getting an activation code from ProQuest eBook Central while signed in.
- It will not be possible to get an activation code until we have migrated to the app on the 13th of August.
- Downloading chapters will be unaffected. They will still download as PDFs.
- Reading online should not be affected as the app is for viewing offline downloaded (borrowed) books.
- Borrowed books will be synchronised across devices.
- It is important that patrons are aware that page numbers of a book will often differ depending on the type of device being used. This will affect Reading Lists. It will be better to provide a link to a particular section of a book.
