Call for Abstracts: TU Dublin hosts IBICS-10 Symposium
The Irish Biological Inorganic Chemistry Society (IBICS) will hold its 10th scientific symposium, IBICS-10, at the Central Quad, TU Dublin on Friday 30th October 2026.
Marking ten years of the Society, IBICS-10 will bring together researchers from across Ireland and internationally working at the interface of biological inorganic chemistry, medicinal inorganic chemistry and biology.
The symposium will feature three international plenary speakers: Prof. Walter Berger, University of Vienna; Prof. Anne Duhme-Klair, University of York; and Prof. Nicholas Farrell, emeritus, Virginia Commonwealth University. The speakers will also take part in a fireside chat during the programme.
Prof. Hugh Byrne will join the programme as an invited speaker, showcasing research at TU Dublin relevant to the IBICS community.
The event will also include oral, poster and flash presentations from academics, early-career researchers and postgraduate students, with a feature lecture from the recipient of the IBICS postgraduate gold medal award 2026. The IBICS 10th Anniversary Special Recognition Award for Outstanding Support of IBICS will be presented to recipient Prof. John M. Kelly.
Call for abstracts
Researchers are invited to submit abstracts for oral, poster or flash oral presentations as part of the IBICS-10 programme.
Abstracts should be submitted by email to Dr Joseph Byrne, IBICS Secretary, at secretary@ibics.ie by Friday 16th October 2026, using the official abstract template.
The symposium is open to academics, industry representatives, postdoctoral researchers and postgraduate students working across the scientific disciplines relevant to biological inorganic chemistry.

Registration for the symposium and renewal of IBICS membership can be completed through the IBICS registration form.
Registration is free for paid IBICS members. Annual membership fees are €10 for students, €20 for postdoctoral fellows and €30 for academics/professionals. Registration for non-members is €30.
