Seven TU Dublin experts appointed to Royal Irish Academy committees for 2026 - 2030
Seven TU Dublin academics and experts have been appointed to Royal Irish Academy (RIA) multidisciplinary and standing committees for the 2026 - 2030 term, bringing TU Dublin expertise to a wide range of areas across the Academy’s work.
The appointments recognise the knowledge and experience of TU Dublin colleagues across the sciences, humanities and social sciences, with seven representatives joining committees covering physical and environmental sciences, engineering and computer science, geography and geosciences, languages and culture, international affairs and social sciences.
The seven TU Dublin representatives are:
- Professor Fiona Lyng - Physical, Chemical and Mathematical Sciences Committee
- Dr Harry Browne - Languages, Literature, Culture and Communication Committee
- Professor Paul Donnelly - Standing Committee for International Affairs
- Dr Santos Fernández Noguerol - Geography and Geosciences Committee
- Dr Smaya Moher - Engineering and Computer Sciences Committee
- Professor Taha Yasseri - Social Sciences Committee
- Valerie Connor - Languages, Literature, Culture and Communication Committee
The Royal Irish Academy’s multidisciplinary committees bring together experts from across the island of Ireland to share knowledge, support research and scholarship, and contribute to public and policy discussions on issues of importance across their respective disciplines.
Committee members were selected following a competitive open call and bring a broad range of academic, research and industry expertise. Over the four-year term, the committees will develop programmes of work that may include public events, conferences, seminars, round tables, reports, blogs and expert statements.
