Overview
The PhD Development Pillar plays a central role in supporting doctoral researchers as emerging scholars within the CEBII community. Recognising that PhD study is both intellectually demanding and professionally formative, this Pillar is committed to fostering a supportive, inclusive, and motivating environment for doctoral development.
The Pillar provides opportunities for PhD students to share challenges, insights, and experiences, helping them to progress confidently through their research journey. It also promotes scholarly growth through structured peer engagement, academic mentoring, and dedicated writing supports.
By strengthening doctoral capability, the Pillar contributes to the sustainability and future excellence of CEBII’s research community.
Goals for 2026
In 2026, this Pillar will:
- Provide a supportive environment for PhD students to share challenges, learning, and research experiences
- Build a strong community connecting doctoral researchers and academics across the Centre
- Create opportunities for doctoral researchers to develop and refine academic writing skills
- Deliver dedicated writing supports, including a sustained writing retreat to support PhD completion
