About
Overview
WiSAR Technology Gateway, based in Atlantic Technological University and TU Dublin, provides solutions to Irish industry for the Internet of Things (IoT) using expertise in wireless, embedded systems and power electronics. Located on the TU Dublin-Tallaght campus, the Anechoic Chamber (AEC) and Microfabrication Laboratory (MFL) enhance the facilities and services that WiSAR can offer to Irish industry.
Anechoic Chamber (AEC)
The AEC is a 5m semi-anechoic chamber which was kindly donated to the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering by Lake Communications Ltd in 2006. Located within the Synergy/CASH innovation centre on the Tallaght Campus, the AEC is primarily used for undergraduate and postgradute research and teaching in the areas of radio signal propagation and telecommunications. TU Dublin also provides use of this facility to industry and other academic organisations for the purposes of protoype development and EMC pre-compliance.
Microfabrication Laboratory (MFL)
The MFL is a self-contained, purpose-built, cleanroom facility that specialises in the fabrication of semiconductor devices and micro solid-state structures. Built and resourced in partnership with Intel Ireland in 2004, fundamental, small-scale microelectronic fabrication techniques such as cleaning, oxidation, diffusion, metallisation, lithographic patterning and chemical etching are supported. In addition, the use of various test and measurement equipment, in conjunction with software tools, facilitate mid and post process device analyses. Used extensively for under and post graduate research and education, TU Dublin also facilitates access to the MFL and its resources for industrial partners and academic organisations.
