The course is designed to help students grow creatively and intellectually by offering a wide range of learning options. It provides flexibility through different types of courses, including general education, major and minor subjects, and free electives. The program also gives students hands-on experience in many areas, supported by academic, research, and professional studies.

Structure

The Arts Degree is broken down into three curriculum components, totaling 240 ECTS credits.

Major Stream (80-120 ECTS credits)

A major is the subject that is the largest area of focus for students taking the Arts programme accounting for between one third and one half of your programme. Students must select a major no later than March in their second year and are encouraged to explore our range of available majors.

Minor / Free Electives (40-80 ECTS credits)

A minor is a smaller subject area accounting for one sixth of the programme. A minor is not mandatory but is an opportunity for students to explore a secondary area of interest. If a student prefers not to do a minor, they can explore free electives across the TU Dublin catalogue.

Core Curriculum (80 ECTS credits)

Throughout their four years, all Arts students will dive into a core curriculum designed to build essential skills and broaden their perspectives. This includes five mandatory classes that explore the fascinating role of technology in society. In addition to that, students get to pick from a wide array of options across eight themed areas where they will learn valuable skills, ranging from communication and creativity to digital literacy and sustainability.

Advisor Support

You'll benefit from our unique one-to-one advisory support every year, with one guaranteed session per semester with your dedicated Academic Adviser, and the support of an Advising Office designed to help you at every step of your academic journey.

Interaction with Students from Other Programmes

For all classes other than the five mandatory classes addressing the role of technology in society, Arts students will be joining classes taught on other programmes with the opportunity to interact with a wide range of students from different disciplines across TU Dublin.
