Become a Climate Ambassador
Become a Climate Ambassador and take meaningful action and meet a national network of inspiring individuals. The programme is co-ordinated by An Taisce with support from the Department of Environment, Climate and Communications. Application opens between 19 September - 20 October 2024.

Young Reporters for the Environment (YRE) Competition
The YRE competition is for students aged under 25 to research environmental issues and promote solutions through journalism. The global Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) coordinate the programme and An Taisce are the national operators in Ireland. Deadline 4 April 2025.

Take Part in the Climate Youth Delegate programme
Each year the Department of the Environment, Climate & Communications, together with the National Youth Council of Ireland (NYCI), appoint two Climate Youth Delegates to take part in the 20 month programme. Applications will be opening/closing in April/May 2025.

IKC3 - Turas Learning Programme
Ireland’s Knowledge Centre for Carbon, Climate & Community Action (IKC3) deliver the Turas Learning Programme - over six-months, the upskilling initiative is designed to equip participants with knowledge on climate change challenges in terms of adaptation, mitigation, science, and policy.

The SPARK
The Spark is a learning-by-doing community wealth-building and climate action project led by Bohemian Football Club, partnering with other organisations including TU Dublin. It aims to inspire and empower the Dublin 7 community to lay the foundations of a functioning climate cooperative.

Steppingstone forests
Sign up to become a Steppingstone forest volunteer and create forests at locations around Dublin. TU Dublin has worked closely with the programme supporting opportunities for students and staff to volunteer as part of soil preparation and planting days.
Social justice and societal engagement
Tackling global sustainability challenges from poverty to inequalities and from to climate change and the biodiversity loss crisis can be overwhelming for many, as can communicating the existential scale of such problems. TU Dublin will work to offer a variety of approaches to engage our people to have effective conversations on sustainability. Find a social justice or engagement programme and start contributing to building a world of justice, democracy, equity, and dignity.

UN Volunteering
Irish Aid support the UN Volunteer programme to deploy UN Youth Volunteers and UN Specialist Volunteers to assignments within UN agencies in regional and developing country offices over a period of 12 months. Closing date for application is in July with assignments commencing in October.

Get involved in NYCI Policy and Advocacy Committee (PAC) or their International Advisory Committee (IAC)
The PAC was established in 2008 to replace the Social Policy Network. The IAC advises and make proposals to the Board of NYCI on international policies and activities and facilitates and promotes the involvement of member organisations in international activities.

Applications for the 2025-2026 UN Youth Delegate Programme for Ireland is open now will close on 19 March 2025.

Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) Initiatives in TU Dublin
Students and staff across TU Dublin are engaged in projects and initiatives which advance equality, build an inclusive culture, prevent discrimination, and protect human rights - find a programme or network and get involved in social justice during your time here at TU Dublin

Join a Society of St Vincent de Paul (SVP) College Conference
By joining an SVP College Conference, you can become part of a student network for social action, in addition to a respected national network of over 11,000 SVP volunteers.

Young Voices EU Youth Dialogue
The EU Youth Dialogue is delivered by NYCI through Young Voices. The programme enables young people to deliver change on areas that are impacting on young people at EU and National level. Participants explore the issues, deliver consultation, and propose actions for a positive outcome.

Community Gardens at TU Dublin
With 115 acres of land across Dublin city-centre and sub-urban campuses, TU Dublin provides space to bring people together in garden projects that promote sustainability and community engagement. TU Dublin has two active gardens offering organic growing, health and wellbeing experiences.

Sustainability Action Lab
Sustainability Action Lab aims to develop the competencies needed in society to transition to becoming a more sustainable society, economy and environment. Academics and students engage with partners from civil society, industry, or government in co-learning activities in the real-world.

European Commissioner Maria Luís Albuquerque is inviting 15 young Europeans to Brussels to share their views. Application deadline 13 January 2025
