ACE-Lab aims to transform Automatic Control Engineering (ACE) education by connecting control theory with real-world engineering practice through hands-on experimentation, industry-aligned curricula, and project-based learning lead by university colleagues supporting automatic control engineering education, research, innovation, and professional practice.

ACE-Lab provides an accessible, open-source, and globally collaborative platform that enables practical control engineering education across classrooms, laboratories, homes, and international learning communities. ACE-Lab

This September and October, the ACE-Lab Workshops are heading across the UK and Ireland, bringing practical, Model-Based Control engineering directly to educators, researchers, industry professionals, graduates and students. In Ireland, it will at TU Dublin - Bolton Street on Thursday, the 17th of September from 10:00 to 13:30.

Using portable, low-cost hardware with MATLAB and Simulink, participants will work through the complete control-engineering design cycle:

  • Capture engineering requirements
  • Design and operate control systems
  • Test, tune and validate solutions
  • Move from theory to deployed control using Model-Based Design

The workshops will also demonstrate how we can flip the control-engineering classroom, placing practical challenges first and using theory to support informed engineering decisions.
