Provide your Input on the Professional Recognition of Teaching and Learning in Ireland

The Higher Education Authority (HEA) and the National Forum for the Enhancement of Teaching and Learning in Higher Education (NF) are currently developing a National Professional Recognition Framework (NPRF) for teaching and learning in higher education in Ireland.

Staff in TU Dublin are invited to express interest, by Friday, 20 February, in participating in a consultation event to take place on Thursday, 5 March from 10-11am in Rathdown House in Grangegorman. Places are limited and it is expected that the consultation event will involve a diversity of staff from across the whole University.

Why Participate in this Consultation?

By participating in the consultation, you will have the opportunity to learn more about the National Professional Recognition Framework, explore its applicability to your experiences, and, shape the framework to ensure it is reflective of the variety of roles that contribute to teaching and learning activities in Irish Higher Education. Participants will use the draft National Professional Development Framework and explore it under four topic areas: ease of use, appropriateness, challenges/gaps and supports/resources needed. Small group facilitated discussion of these topics will be used to gather feedback to support the on-going enhancement of the NPRF.

Pre-Consultation Webinar

The consultation event will be preceded by a live webinar taking place on Monday, 2 March from 2-2:45pm in which participants will be in introduced to the work completed to date on the National Professional Recognition Framework. At the webinar, presenters will explain the process used and the approach adopted in the development of the framework. The draft framework will be presented and discussed. A ‘Questions and Answer’ slot will conclude the webinar. A synopsis video will be available for those who cannot attend the webinar; attending the webinar or watching the synopsis video is required prior to attending the workshop.

Express Interest

The HEA and National Forum wish to ensure a breadth of perspectives at the workshop and are seeking expressions of interest from a range of staff who support learning across TU Dublin.  Places are limited and workshop composition will reflect as diverse a cross representation of staff as possible. Register your interest in participating via this form by Friday, 20 February 2026. You will be informed about whether you've been allocated a space in the consultation in the week of 23 February
