About the Authors

Patrick Bresnihan is Associate Professor in the Department of Geography at Maynooth University. His work examines the contested politics of climate, land, and infrastructure in Ireland, and how these speak to broader questions of postcolonial development, dependency and the green transition.

Patrick Brodie is an Assistant Professor in the School of Information and Communication Studies at University College Dublin. His research focuses on the environmental politics of digital infrastructures.

Their newly launched book From the Bog to the Cloud:  Dependency and Eco-Modernity in Ireland poses provocative questions.

What does the Green Transition in Ireland look like when dictated by the energy and resource demands of monopoly tech? How has this situation come to be? How is it being resisted?

Who is this event for? Anyone who is interested in critical discussion on how tech driven transitions replicate exploitative patterns of imperial capitalism. This event is open to staff and students as well as members of the public.
