Learning, Teaching and Assessment (LTA) Showcase 2026

The 2026 LTA Showcase shines a light on the importance of connection, belonging and engagement for the student learning experience, particularly as we are now in the era of Gen AI. Our theme for this year is "Teaching that Connects". Sign up now to attend.
This year, we want to hear from staff across the University as contributors to the Showcase. We will provide you with a small, themed group within which you can discuss the challenges that you are facing, the teaching or student engagement practices that work for you and your students, or the innovations that you are intending to explore in the future. You do not need to prepare any slides, but to help us position you in the right conversation on the day, we ask that you provide some details - if you wish - when you are completing the booking form.
Theme: Teaching that Connects
A sense of belonging is increasingly regarded as one of the key factors in student success (Allen et al, 2024) and in the forthcoming StudentSurvey.ie students will be asked questions that have a “greater focus on the enablers of, and barriers to, student engagement, in the context of the consensus that engagement had diminished among the students in the last couple of years” (StudentSurvey.ie, 2025). A focus on interpersonal relationships and engagement both with students, society and industry has long been a cornerstone of our practice in TU Dublin and is a key part of the University’s core mission. The 2026 LTA Showcase will enable us to explore this subject deeply through the keynote, the workshop and the practitioner conversations.
Keynote: Relational Pedagogy in the Age of Gen AI
We are delighted to welcome Dr Helen Beetham to deliver the keynote presentation on the topic of “Relational pedagogy in the age of Gen AI”. Helen is an experienced educator and education consultant who, among other things, writes widely about the impact of Gen AI in education. More details on her keynote address will be available closer to the date but it is highly likely to be inspiring and thought-provoking.
Workshop: Building Connection
The showcase includes a practical workshop offered by the LTA Team to help you further develop your own skills building connection with your students.
Practitioner Conversations: Tell us about your Practice
This year’s Showcase will be a celebration and exploration of the existing good practices across TU Dublin. Our practitioner conversation session and will provide a forum for themed table-based discussions among TU Dublin staff about their practices for teaching and engaging their students, their areas of interest for future innovations and the challenges with which they feel they need support.
We are asking all staff to come along to the showcase to contribute to these conversations. There is no need to prepare any slides or present to the whole room. You will be assigned to a table where you will share your experience, or simply listen to the experiences of others.
Consider, for example, the following:
- You might have made a point of knowing your students' names and welcome them to your lecture, and you've noticed that this helps to engage your class.
- Maybe you have instituted a new approach to group work or peer assessment or active learning and would like to share your experiences.
- Perhaps you feel you need advice on how to encourage students to work collaboratively.
- Maybe you and your students are enjoying using one of the University’s licensed tools (Vevox, MS-Whiteboard, Adobe Express etc) to create connection?
- Perhaps you're concerned about how your students are using GenAI rather than engaging with each other, or with you as their lecturer.
We want you to use this opportunity to share your practice, your experience, your ideas and your concerns in our table-based conversations. You will not need to present to the whole room, only speak in your group. You do not need to prepare any slides.
Book your Place Now
Complete the booking form now to book your place. In doing so, you are invited to (optionally) provide a brief outline of the practices, challenges or innovations you'd like to share with colleagues in the table-based conversations.
