LTA Lunch and Learn Series: GenAI in Teaching, Learning and Assessment
GenAI is increasingly used to enable learning and teaching across our Faculties and Schools. Sharing practices and reflecting on others’ experiences help academic staff learn collaboratively, build confidence, and critically reflect on their pedagogical use of GenAI.
Lunch and Learn: GenAI in Teaching, Learning and Assessment
The Learning, Teaching and Assessment (LTA) team invites staff across the University to participate in the first Lunch and Learn: GenAI in Teaching, Learning and Assessment that will take place on Thursday, 18 June, from 1-2pm in the Academic Hub, Grangegorman.
Register here to attend this event.
Guided by the question, “In what ways can institutional strategies support critical, reflective, and ethical engagement with AI, rather than compliance-driven implementation?” (HEA, 2025), the LTA Team is facilitating this series of in-person events to create space for academic staff to share disciplinary practices, critically reflect on their use of AI tools, and learn collaboratively from one another.
The Lunch and Learn events are designed to provide a welcoming, informal, safe, and inclusive space for sharing and learning from each other's experiences when using GenAI Tools in teaching, learning or assessment.
Events will be hosted through the academic year across different TU Dublin campuses.
Contributors
For the inaugural event on 18 June, we are pleased to have contributions from two colleagues on their use of GenAI in Teaching and Learning.
- Jennifer Cowman from the School of Global Business will present on the "Student AI Learning Journey".
- Wendy Shaw from the School of Marketing and Entrepreneurship will share her experiences and challenges in using the AI Assessment Scale in her discipline.

Session Outline
In this session, we will explore and share
- How an academic team worked collaboratively to define an approach regarding students' journey using GenAI/AI Tools.
- The ‘Student AI Learning Journey’ template will be provided as an opportunity for academic staff and programme teams to discuss their disciplinary approach.
- Real examples of assignments where the AI Assessment Scale has been applied and what we can learn from them.
