GenAI is increasingly used to enable learning and teaching across our Faculties and Schools. Sharing practices and reflecting on others’ experiences help academic staff learn collaboratively, build confidence, and critically reflect on their pedagogical use of GenAI.

Lunch and Learn: GenAI in Teaching, Learning and Assessment

The Learning, Teaching and Assessment (LTA) team invites staff across the University to participate in the first Lunch and Learn: GenAI in Teaching, Learning and Assessment that will take place on Friday 23rd October, from 1-2pm in the Main Building in Tallaght Campus. Room TM-118.

Register for this event.

Guided by the question, “In what ways can institutional strategies support critical, reflective, and ethical engagement with AI, rather than compliance-driven implementation?” (HEA, 2025), the LTA Team is facilitating this series of in-person events to create space for academic staff to share disciplinary practices, critically reflect on their use of AI tools, and learn collaboratively from one another.

The Lunch and Learn events are designed to provide a welcoming, informal, safe, and inclusive space for sharing and learning from each other's experiences when using GenAI Tools in teaching, learning or assessment.

Events will be hosted through the academic year across different TU Dublin campuses.

Contributors

For the event on 23rd October, we are pleased to have contributions from two colleagues on their use of GenAI in Teaching and Learning.

  • Dariusz Terefenko from the School of Computing Sciences will share: 'The Role of AI in Assessment: Supporting Students and Strengthening CA Design'
  • Karen Nolan Computing Lecturer; Academic Lead Student Progression Campaign will present: 'Equity and AI in Assessment (Who Gets the Better Co-Pilot?)'

Join us to learn from our colleagues' practices in a friendly and peer-collaborative space.

Bring your lunch!

Session Outline

In this session, we will explore and share

  • The new GenAI in T&L and Assessment website
  • How Generative AI (GenAI) can support both students and academic staff throughout the Continuous Assessment (CA) process, while maintaining a clear focus on learning and academic integrity.
  • How we can design assessments that provide an equitable baseline for AI use, and what equity might mean when students have access to different AI tools and capabilities applying the AI Assessment Scale.
