Project Title: Hybrid Intelligence: Integrating AI and Human Collective Intelligence for Inclusive and Ethical Decision-Making
Project Abstract:
Committees and panels are supposed to combine many viewpoints to make better decisions than any single person. In practice, however, meetings can be dominated by a few voices, overlook important perspectives, or amplify shared errors. My PhD develops and tests Artificial Intelligence (AI)-assisted systems that help groups surface diverse ideas, weigh contributions fairly, and turn discussion into clear, high-quality recommendations. Among different work packages, I will compare traditional town-planning meetings with sessions where an AI suggests missing options, highlights under-heard participants, and produces transparent summaries. I will evaluate these systems for accuracy, fairness, usability, and trust, and create an open toolkit and governance checklist that organisations can use. The aim is to make group decisions more accurate, inclusive, and legitimate, so public bodies and organisations can make better choices faster and with greater public confidence.
