Marian Connell is a Lecturer in Applied Social Care in Technological University Dublin, Tallaght Campus. Prior to becoming a lecturer, she worked in a variety of residential care settings, in family support as a social care worker and in management. She has twenty years’ experience as a child psychotherapist and over thirty years’ postgraduate training as a social care worker. Marian has a degree in Social Care, postgraduate diplomas in Child Art Psychotherapy and Practice Based Play Therapy, and an MSc in Child Art Psychotherapy.

Marian’s research interests include trauma informed practice and the use of creative arts and somatic psychotherapy to help social care students, social care workers, social workers, counsellors and psychotherapists express their embodied self. Marian also has a keen interest in self -care and vicarious trauma and helping students and social care workers understand how to attune to their own nervous system and develop healthy coping strategies to soothe and anchor their own nervous systems.
