This week, students from the MSc Event Management programme took part in an engaging visit to Dublin’s renowned Aviva Stadium. The group met with Daniel Wynne, Head of Operations, who offered valuable insights into the complex logistics of running one of Ireland’s leading sports and events venues.

During the visit, students explored how major events, from international matches to large-scale concerts, are planned and delivered. Daniel discussed the many aspects of venue management, including sustainability practices, operational challenges, and the importance of strong teamwork. He also spoke about the stadium’s ongoing efforts to maintain positive relationships with local communities, highlighting the importance of collaboration and communication in ensuring events run smoothly and responsibly.

Daniel also addressed gender issues in sport, highlighting the growing focus on inclusion, equality, and representation within the events and sporting sectors.

The visit gave students a valuable, real-world understanding of how operational excellence, community relations, and social responsibility intersect within today’s events industry.
