About:
Greg South joined Technological University Dublin in August 2021 and is an Assistant Lecturer in the School of Informatics and Cybersecurity. Greg holds a MSc in Computer Science from University College Dublin (1:1). Greg has extensive experience in industry and academia. He has over six years working as an IT/network/services engineer and pre-sales consultant. Greg regularly keeps his industry knowledge and skills up-to-date and has qualifications such as CCNA x 3 (2010, 2017, 2021), CCNP and CCIE Enterprise Core Certified - ENCORE 350-401 (2022). He is also certified as an AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate (2018).

Background:
Greg has a strong desire to engage, inspire and encourage students to fulfil their full potential. As such, he was recognised as a Teaching Hero in the student-led Teaching Hero awards organised by the National Forum (2021). He has eight years teaching experience in Higher Education both in Ireland and the UK holding the positions of Lecturer, Student Success Lead and Assistant Head of Department. He also recently held a position of External Examiner for a Bachelor of Science in Cyber Crime & IT Security programme (2019-2022). Greg also participated in the AWS Educate Ambassador Programme (2019-2021).

Teaching and Research Interests:
Recent teaching areas include Enterprise Routing and Switching, WAN Technologies, Cloud Architecture, Computer Systems and Network Security. Greg’s research interests include: Cloud Computing, Software Defined Networks and Network Security.
